The Fruit of the Spirit - Faith-filled prayer and confession based on 1 Cor. 13 to develop God's love in your life
Holy Spirit, I yield myself to YOU, to bear fruit in my life. I thank YOU for working love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in my life. (Gal. 5:22,23)
Father, I thank YOU for making me more like Jesus today. I thank YOU for causing me to know and believe the love YOU have for me, so I can show YOUR love to the world. (Rom. 8:29; 1 John 4:16)
Father, I thank YOU for developing love in me that is as follows:
- I am patient – I am not quick to become angry. I do not have a quick temper.
- I am kind – I am gentle and well-behaved. I am not harsh or hard.
- I do not envy – I am not jealous and possessive. I do not seek to control. I give room for freedom of expression apart from me.
- I do not boast – I do not try to impress by drawing attention to myself. I am not a braggart.
- I am not proud – I am not self-centered and arrogant. I do not have an over estimation of self worth. I do not judge others by comparison to myself.
- I am not rude – I have good manners. I am able to show proper respect for others.
- I am not self seeking – I do not pursue self-centeredness. I do not use others for personal ambitions. I seek to give of self for the good of others.
- I am not easily angered – I am not touchy or explosive. I do not take things too personally. I am not a hot head.
- I keep no record of wrongs – I do not dwell on past hurts or insults. I make allowances for other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends me. God forgave me, so I forgive others. I am quick to forgive and forget.
- I do not delight in evil – I do not find satisfaction when others are found in sin. I do not use faults of others to justify myself.
- I rejoice with the truth – I am always glad when truth, righteousness, and justice prevail, even in the lives of those I do not like.
- I always protect – I am always seeking protection of others through love, encouragement, and building up.
- I always hope – Regardless of the circumstances, I have a continual expectation of love from the Lord in behalf of myself and others.
- I always persevere – I am willing to endure all circumstances and obstacles because my love is based on character that has been developed in me by the Spirit. My actions are not based on the response of others.
- Holy Spirit, I thank YOU that YOU are helping me to walk in love today. Show me areas of the love walk that I need to work on today, in Jesus’ NAME.
